Rockwell Laser Industries (RLI) has been the leader in aesthetic education for the last 7 years. Our course curriculum brings a comprehensive program to the attendee that is unrivaled in the areas of physics, safety, risk management, business development of the new ANSI Z136.3 American National Standard for Safe Use of Lasers in Healthcare (2011) document, all personnel working in cosmetic and aesthetic environments will need the essential tools to implement change in their practice. By attending a RLI course, the attendee will complete the training required by HB 449 and Texas Administrative Code 25 289.302 and they will also satisfy the requirements of ANSI Z136.3 for Medical Laser Safety Officer (MLSO) training.

Our 40 hour course is approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Texas Workforce Commission. The course curriculum includes laser safety training in the following areas: Laser Hair Removal (LHR), cosmetic laser procedures, facial rejuvenation, acne treatment leg vein therapy, tattoo removal and body contouring. The attendee will also learn the basics of laser physics, procedural, administrative and engineering controls. Attendees will also participate in an in-depth discussion on laser devices. RLI has partnered with various aesthetic laser manufacturers, those devices as well as other will be introduced during the course.

Attendees will also receive their First Aid/CPR and AED certification through the American Red Cross. This certification should be renewed every 2 years. If you are current with your certification you may register for the 32 hour Aesthetic Fundamentals and Laser Safety Officer course (M174). Please note for Texas attendees, you must supply documentation when submitting your application for certification that you are current in your First Aid/CPR and AED training.

Upon completion of this course attendees will have met the requirements to take the Certified Medical Laser Safety Officer exam (CMLSO) and the National Council on Laser Excellence exam (NCLE).

Course Objectives

  • Discuss the fundamental science of laser/light/ RF energy as it pertains to device biophysics and tissue effects.
  • Determine hazards associated with laser/light/ RF systems and appropriate safety control measures required.
  • Identify the regulatory and advisory guidelines for development of an aesthetic safety program.
  • Discuss clinical applications of current and emerging laser/light/ RF technology in the aesthetic field.
  • Identify key component of an aesthetic consultation with review of client assessment, informed consents and client assessment.
