RLI to Present and Exhibit at the 2026 DOE LSO Workshop

RLI’s Principal Laser Safety Science Lead, Ben Rockwell, Ph.D, will be presenting at this year’s DOE LSO Workshop on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 2:30pm, with a paper titled “Nonlinear Processes in Threshold Damage to Tissues Relevant to Laser Safety”.

The presentation examines the mechanisms of tissue damage arising from nonlinear physical and optical processes. By outlining these nonlinear effects, it highlights how they shape the observed trends in tissue‑damage thresholds across varying pulse durations and wavelengths. This framework equips the audience with a deeper understanding of how laser maximum permissible exposure limits evolve and highlights areas that require heightened vigilance as advanced laser‑system capabilities continue to expand.

The annual DOE LSO Workshop, taking place May 19–21, 2026, at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, California, is a premier gathering for professionals with laser safety responsibilities across research, industrial, and academic sectors. This year’s 2.5-day program will feature invited and contributed talks covering the latest trends in laser applications, current safety challenges, and practical solutions. Attendees will also have access to vendor exhibits—including RLI’s—along with tours of the National Ignition Facility.

Certification Maintenance Points will be available throughout the workshop.

Introducing Our New Dry-Erase Laser Warning Sign

Rockwell Laser Industries is pleased to introduce a new Class 4 Laser Warning sign made of Dry-Erase material. The sign is pre-printed with prompts for OD, Wavelength, Laser, Average Power, and Laser Safety Officer.

The sign is 10" x 14", and meets all requirements as outlined in ANSI Z136.1 "For Safe Use of Lasers"
